Acro Trip Episode 3 Review

I don’t know what it is about Acro Trip, but the humor and charm of this show hit all the right notes for me—especially in Episode 3. Whether it's the comically "unremarkable" evil of Fossa Magna or the quirky antics of the characters, this episode just delivered a steady stream of laughs and feel-good moments.

The Unremarkable Villainy of Chrome

One of my favorite aspects of this episode is how hilariously ineffective Chrome’s evil plans are. His idea of villainy includes things like sitting on a swing and refusing to give way to kids. It’s so mundane that it’s hard not to root for him as he fumbles through his “evil” schemes. In this episode, Chrome was planning to cause trouble, but he didn’t even show up because of bad weather! That’s right—he canceled his evil plans because it was too rainy to be a villain. This perfectly sums up his character, a villain who’s more of a lovable, awkward goof than a serious threat.

What makes it even funnier is that Chrome had Mashirou’s business card, not to use for any devious plots, but to call and cancel his plans if the weather is bad or he’s sick. It’s moments like these that give Chrome an endearing charm despite his attempts at being "evil."

Chizuko's Fangirl Failures

Chizuko, Chrome’s wannabe sidekick, brings her own brand of hilarity to the episode. She’s supposed to be a big Berry Blossom fangirl, yet when it comes to confronting her idol, she becomes completely useless. The phone call scene where Chizuko fails to stop Berry Blossom simply because she’s too much of a fan had me in stitches. It was basically an ASMR session for Chizuko, and by the end of it, she had completely failed at her mission.

It’s these small character moments that make the show so special. You’d think Chizuko’s fangirl knowledge would help her in her villainous endeavors, but instead, it’s the very thing that holds her back. This contrast adds layers to her character while also keeping the show lighthearted and fun.

Grandpa: The Silent Supporter

One of the underappreciated elements in this episode is Grandpa’s quiet support of all the chaos around him. He treats Chrome, Chizuko, and Berry Blossom like kids playing pretend, never taking their antics too seriously. His calm demeanor amidst the absurdity adds a layer of warmth to the episode. It’s as if he sees through their “evil” plans and knows they’re harmless, but he still supports them in his own way.

Humor That Just Works

The humor in Acro Trip is both silly and smart in its execution. For instance, Chrome’s evil plans are so small-scale and laughable that they’re almost relatable. Whether he’s nervously trying to make phone calls or awkwardly failing at basic villainy, his struggles are endearing. Chizuko’s failure to confront Berry Blossom and Chrome’s plan to sit on a swing without moving just reinforce how ridiculous these characters are—and I love every second of it.

Episode 3 strikes a perfect balance between character development and humor, delivering one of the most entertaining episodes yet. Acro Trip continues to shine because it embraces its own absurdity while keeping its characters grounded in their unique quirks.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Episode 3 of Acro Trip keeps the laughs coming with its delightful cast of characters and quirky humor. From Chrome’s pathetic attempts at evil to Chizuko’s fangirl antics, every moment is packed with charm. Whether you’re in it for the humor, the lighthearted story, or the lovable characters, Acro Trip continues to be a fun and feel-good watch that’s perfect for anyone who enjoys a good comedy.

I can’t wait to see where these lovable failures go from here!
