Acro Trip Episode 5 Review

Y'all, this week's episode of Acro Trip was an absolute blast that had me laughing out loud multiple times! Let's dive into why Episode 5 was such a delightful mix of magical girl shenanigans and comedy.

Berry Blossom's Origin Story!

Finally got to see how our favorite magical girl got her start! Who knew that Mashirou was basically doing what Chrome is doing now - recruiting teenage girls into magical contracts? Also, can we talk about how "Berry Blossom" was supposed to be a temporary name but just stuck? That's such a perfect magical girl origin detail!

Chrome's Failed Villain Moments

Poor Chrome just cannot catch a break this episode:

  • Tries to make a dramatic entrance using bad weather
  • Gets totally ignored by the police who think he's doing a hero show
  • Can barely summon his portal because he's so low energy
  • His evil plan gets foiled by... online shopping?

The Most Supportive Grandpa Ever

MVP of the episode has to go to Berry's grandpa who was 100% ready to get into a car chase with the police! No questions asked, just pure "ride or die" energy for his magical girl granddaughter. This man deserves a "Best Anime Grandpa" award!

The Great Wand Saga

This episode really said "You can buy ANYTHING online these days" and I'm living for it! Some highlights:

  • Berry casually ordering replacement magical wands online
  • Those ominous-looking dark wands that had us all thinking we'd get an evil Berry episode
  • Chizuko wearing gloves to handle Berry's used wands (true fan dedication!)

Character Development

We got some great character moments:

  • Berry showing she can handle herself without her wand
  • Chrome's fanboy side peeking through his villain facade
  • Chizuko's dedication to preserving her Berry Blossom collectibles

Best Moments

  1. The police encounter ("Are you doing a hero show?")
  2. Grandpa ready to start a high-speed chase
  3. Chrome realizing his evil plan got foiled by online shopping
  4. Berry thinking the evil mastermind is actually her fan

Final Thoughts

This episode perfectly balances the magical girl genre conventions with its own unique comedy style. The writing stays sharp and the character interactions are pure gold. Even when the plot seems predictable, it manages to surprise us with clever twists and genuine laughs.

Rating: 9/10 - Would watch Chrome fail at being a villain again!

Ao no Hako - Blue Box Episode 2 Review

It feels like déjà vu, but not in a good way. Blue Box, or Ao no Hako , has stumbled into distribution hell, much like Shikanoko Nokotan . Episode 2 has been released in Japan with multilingual subs, yet the rest of the world only has Episode 1 on Netflix.
