BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War returned with a bang, and Episode 1 of "The Conflict" arc picks up right where the second cour left off. It's safe to say, fans were not disappointed. From jaw-dropping moments to incredible fight sequences, this episode was packed with some of the best animation and storytelling we’ve seen yet. And it’s time to talk about the most heated showdown of the episode—Uryu Ishida vs. Senjumaru Shutara. Spoilers ahead!

The Showdown: Uryu Takes on Senjumaru

We all knew Uryu Ishida was a key player in the Quincy forces, but this episode cemented his role as a major threat. The battle between Uryu and Senjumaru was the highlight of the episode. Senjumaru, who was such a dominant force in the last cour, put her incredible Bankai on full display. Her precision, elegance, and power in battle made her an instant fan favorite. But no one expected Uryu to come through as he did.

When Uryu stepped into the battle, it felt like he was about to catch the biggest "L" ever. But nope! Turns out, Uryu was not messing around. Using his unique ability to swap objects and people in a blink, he played mind games with Senjumaru, ultimately shooting her through the heart. Fans across the internet are shocked at Uryu's rise in power and how quickly he took down a member of the revered Squad Zero.

It was a moment that left the Senjumaru fanbase in disbelief, as one fan hilariously commented, "That's it Uryu, it's on sight, you're about to catch the 'A' for the assbeating. Disrespectfully, The Senjumaru fanclub."

Senjumaru’s Demise – A Shocking Turn

Senjumaru, who had just showcased her extraordinary Bankai, seemed untouchable—until Uryu pulled the rug out from under her. In a series known for giving us high moments right before tragic downfalls, this fight was no exception. After being on top of the world for most of her fight, Senjumaru’s defeat at the hands of Uryu left viewers reeling.

The moment Ichibei began singing and performing his ritualistic “song of destruction,” you knew things were going to get intense. But Yhwach’s reveal of his ultimate power, The Almighty, flipped the tables once again. The man literally flexes his power so hard, he starts building staircases to the Soul King from pure Soul Reaper objects. Talk about a villain on an unstoppable rampage.

Yhwach’s power, The Almighty, was finally unleashed in this episode, and it's easily one of the most broken abilities we've seen in anime. The way he obliterated Ichibei and reshaped reality left fans buzzing. As one fan perfectly put it, "No anime-only viewer is ready for the true power of The Almighty!"

Animation and Cinematic Mastery

Let’s talk about the visuals because Studio Pierrot has outdone itself once again. The animation for Uryu's "boogie woogie" ability that swapped Senjumaru and himself was a standout. Every fight scene in this episode felt cinematic, and the choreography was on point. Yhwach forming staircases out of the Soul Palace material was another moment of visual excellence. It's no wonder people are calling this episode cinema.

Uryu’s Rise to Power

Uryu’s character arc has been incredible throughout Thousand-Year Blood War. Once overshadowed by Ichigo and the other Soul Reapers, Uryu has now claimed his spot as a legitimate threat, and his actions in this episode left fans both impressed and heartbroken. The way he took down Senjumaru proves that he's not just a side character anymore. Uryu Ishida, as Yhwach’s successor, has fully arrived. As one fan said, "Uryu hasn't gotten a win this big since the Soul Society arc when he almost killed Mayuri."

What’s Next?

The episode leaves us on a massive cliffhanger as Yhwach makes his move on the Soul King. Ichigo is back on the scene, but it feels like he's too late to prevent the unthinkable.
