Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii - Episode 3 Review

Hey anime fam! Just finished watching Episode 3 of Yakuza Fiancé, and wow - I need to talk about what just went down!

So, this episode really kicked things up a notch. Our guy Kirishima... well, let's just say he starts the episode making some interesting life choices that had me yelling at my screen. But you know what? That's exactly what makes this show so addictive - you never know what these characters are gonna do next!

Can we talk about Yoshino for a sec? Because homegirl is straight-up FIERCE in this episode! There's this one scene where she pulls a knife on Kirishima, and I was like "YES QUEEN!" It's so refreshing to see a female lead who doesn't just sit around waiting to be saved. She's got her own agenda, and I'm here for it!

The backstory stuff about Yoshino's dad hit pretty hard too. They're slowly unraveling this mystery about his death, and I've got SO many theories. Was it really just an accident? Or did our favorite yakuza family have something to do with it?  The plot thickens!

Also, can we appreciate how this show balances the serious stuff with these weirdly funny moments? Like, there's this scene where Kirishima breaks into Yoshino's place just to braid her hair while she's sleeping (creepy much?), but somehow it ends up being both unsettling AND oddly sweet? Only this show could pull that off!

Oh, and enter Shoma - our new plot twist! This guy shows up with history with Yoshino and basically wants to throw hands with Kirishima. The drama is getting REAL, folks!

Quick highlights that had me shook:

  • That opening scene (IYKYK )
  • The yakuza family meeting (so much tension!)
  • Every scene where Yoshino proves she's not one to mess with
  • Those little hints about her dad's past (my detective brain is working overtime)

Real talk though - this episode solidified why I'm obsessed with this series. It's not your typical romance anime where everything's sweet and fluffy. It's messy, it's complicated, and it keeps you guessing. The characters feel real because they're not perfect - they're all kinds of messed up, but in a way that makes sense for their world.

Overall rating: 8.5/10 - would definitely recommend, but maybe not to your younger siblings!

Who else is watching? Drop your theories about Yoshino's dad in the comments! And no spoilers for the manga readers - let us anime-only folks enjoy the mystery!

Next week's episode can't come soon enough!

(Quick heads up: If you're new to the series, maybe start from episode 1. This isn't really a "jump in anywhere" kind of show!)

What do you think? Are you Team Kirishima or Team Shoma? Or are you like me, just here for Yoshino's character development? 😂

P.S. The animation this episode was chef's kiss 👌
